Tour topic

From S-Bahnhof Bornholmer Straße (Prenzlauer Berg) to S-Bahnhof Gesundbrunnen (Wedding)

The tour follows Józef Przedpełski (pronounced Pshedpelski) through the Gesundbrunnen neighbourhood. In 1944, the 23 year old was deported from Warsaw and forced to work for the German National Railway (Deutsche Reichsbahn). Together with his wife he was placed in a forced labour camp located within a school; his son was born in one of the classrooms. As a Pole, he secretly went to the cinema and into the air raid shelter at Humboldthain. In the last days of the war, he witnessed the battles at the S-Bahn bridges.
