Sinaida B. first worked at the cosmetics company Schwarzkopf, then for a family in Steglitz.

Many women and girls from the Soviet Union worked as maids in private households. They were treated better than the female Eastern workers in factories, but were at the mercy of their “masters” and had no right to leisure time.
